Happy thing number 6: i've been drinking at least 28 oz. water daily
(this does not make me feel any better, but its good?)

There is a national foster care movement in the making.
FCAA is a national group of foster care alumni who are committed to connecting with former foster children and changing the world.

I just returned from a summit in Seattle, Washington of FCAA (Foster Care Alumni of America).
The goal is to create chapters all over the nation of former foster children who want to change national policy and also help current foster children (connect and transform).
Right now, the states that are participating are:
-Florida
-Seattle
-Los Angeles
-Ohio (I and my friend Gayle Loyola are co-designing the chapter in this state)
-Idaho
-Arizona
-Michigan
They are currently at work on another chapter to be established in Texas.
Now, I have no idea where you live and you don't have to tell me (because I am just someone you met online) but you might want to check out FCAA's web site: http://www.fostercarealumni.org/
From both your experience in foster care and as a foster parent, I sense that you would make wonderful contributions. The ultimate goal is that, just as the civil rights movement and women's liberation movement changed America, foster alumni can do the same. Our motto is "nothing about us, without us."
You mentioned that the system does what it can, given the limited amount of funding and family support.... through the collective voice of thousands of foster alumni, I really think we could positively change those things.
